Vertex 12'' Vinyl LP

Vertex is a lo-fi left field hip hop artifact recorded by Buck 65 in 1997 or thereabouts. It was recorded to compact audio cassette tape on a TASCAM Portastudio 424 MKII in a squalid 1-bedroom apartment that smelled like cat piss. Buck 65 constructed the beats on an E-mu SP-1200 that spewed yellow-brown smoke and was held together with electrical tape. These rattrap frameworks were supplemented by skittish turntable furnishings, also cobbled by Buck 65's hand. To this dilapidated backdrop, Buck hammered his sketches and stories of outcasts from Greek mythology, small-town baseball, solitude and insomnia. The result is the hip hop equivalent of the quickly fading memory of a sexy nightmare. This is the album that established Buck 65 as an international doomsday cult figure. Discreet private enjoyment is advised.
