Sheila Carabine

Juno-nominated musician Sheila Carabine is set to release her breakthrough solo album, All In, on September 13, 2016. The album follows her success as half of the award-winning Canadian folk duo Dala. Sheila has spent more than a decade on the North American indie and folk music scene, touring and recording from coast to coast.

The Toronto-born musician calls the album a “highly personal exploration of love and loss” that is deeply inspired by her recent immersion in an Acadian community in Nova Scotia. Most of the album was recorded in the soaring acoustics of a 100 year old chapel on the shores of St. Mary’s Bay, in Clare, Nova Scotia.

Sheila Carabine’s first solo album combines a modern, indie-folk sound with nods to classic singer songwriters like Joni Mitchell. Her debut single, Fishing Boats, pays tribute to the cross generation power of her deep Irish connections and the ties that bind.

Collaborators on the album include legendary drummer Gary Craig, whom Sheila met while touring with Tom Cochrane, cellist Kevin Fox, strings by Chris Church, electric guitar by Jérôme Hébert, vocal harmonies by Dala bandmate Amanda Walther and additional cello by up and coming young virtuoso Paul Van Der Sloot, whom Sheila met during her Acadian immersion. Guyaume Boulianne, a young Nova Scotian of Acadian folk harmony group Cy also joins Sheila in a duet on the traditional French ballad A La Claire Fontaine.

Over the past fourteen years, Sheila has toured across North America with popular musical acts including Chantal Kreviazuk, Tom Cochrane, Jann Arden, Matthew Good, the late Richie Havens, Arlo Guthrie, and Stuart McLean of CBC’s Vinyl Café.

All In is being distributed by MapleMusic and will be available for purchase on iTunes.
