With "vocal harmonies thick enough to stand on," and armed with bouzouki, banjo, unaccompanied ballads and shanties, The Once have quickly earned their place amongst Newfoundland’s finest musical talent. A decadent treat for the most discriminating folk pallet.
4 Time 2009 Music Newfoundland and Labrador award winners and East Coast Music Award nominees 2010; The Once is a trio of young folk musicians, building on the traditions of their native province. After their debut release in August of 2009, The Once discovered the demand for their indie folk group was growing quickly. Already a fave at the legendary Lunenburg Folk Festival in 2010 they'll be broadcast on Canadian National Radio CBC program The Vinyl Café in March, appear as part of Atlantic Canada House at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, tour Ireland in Fall 2010 and several major Canadian Folk Festivals including Goderich Celtic Roots and The Stan Rogers Folk Festival. They'll appear in St. John's as part of Juno Festivities and of course at this year's ECMA awards.
