Jory Nash
Biography
Jory Nash is a singer-songwriter who blends elements of traditional folk, blues, jazz and pop into an original acoustic-based roots musical mix. His vocal style is warm and inclusive; his lyrics are layered and broad in scope. He plays 6 & 12-string acoustic guitar, 5-string banjo and piano.
Jory Nash is a past winner of the prestigious Songs From The Heart songwriting award, sponsored by the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals. He is a fiercely independent artist, recording, distributing and promoting his music all on his own. He has appeared at numerous Ontario folk festivals, including Hillside, Mariposa, Shelter Valley, Home County & Summerfolk, and has showcased at Ontario Contact, OCFF and NERFA. Jory has released 5 CDs; his most recent CD is called FolkJazzBlues&Soul, which was released in February, 2007. Collectively, Jory Nash has sold almost 10,000 units, all independently. He has been prominently featured on numerous CBC radio programs including Disc Drive, Fresh Air and Here & Now.
Jory Nash has a hat collection that numbers in the hundreds. He has a BSc.in Biogeography. Jory Nash is also a Gemini, and a die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Jory Nash fears he may never see the Stanley Cup come to Toronto in his lifetime.
