jian ghomeshi is a multi-talented musical artist and writer born in London, England and now based in Toronto, Canada. He is best known as a lead singer, drummer and songwriter in the multi-platinum selling folk-rock group, Moxy Früvous.
Jian blends his passion for humour and politics with beautiful melodies and poignant personal lyrics that make his wildly unique solo live performances a mix of storytelling troubadour and pop/rock spectacular. With Moxy Früvous, Jian has toured internationally and written top-40 songs such as "Stuck in the 90"s", "Sad Girl", and "I Will Hold On". His television and radio credits include appearances on CBS Sunday Morning, CNN Showbiz Today, Late Night with Conan O'Brien, NPR's All Things Considered, CBC's The National, The Juno Awards and Open Mike with Mike Bullard.
Most recently, Jian has also emerged as an acclaimed young producer (Dar Williams, Martina Sorbara) and a widely read editorial columnist. His latest opinion pieces have been published in the Sunday Washington Post, the International Herald Tribune and the Globe and Mail.
Jian takes pride in his Iranian heritage as well as his Canadian citizenship. He holds a degree in Political Science and History. He is currently performing club/festival dates in Canada and the United States.
