I Mother Earth's fourth and most recent album, The Quicksilver Meat Dream, is the band's
most compelling musical statement to date. "I think this album says more about who we are
as a band than anything else we've done," comments drummer Christian Tanna.
I.M.E. has always been known for their densely packed sound, rich with layers of guitar
and percussion. The quartet's extended jams feature their abilities and show a total
disregard for the conventions of todays formulaic rock. On The Quicksilver Meat Dream
previously unexplored sounds and textures creep into the music and intertwine with the
band's trademark driving guitars and powerful rhythms.
After returning home from the exhaustive world tour schedule of Blue Green Orange, I.M.E.
immediately began work on the new album. Several songs in, not satisfied with the initial
direction of the writing process, the band decided to shift focus and start from scratch.
"I wanted us to make an album that brought us back to the essence of why we started making
music in the first place," explains guitarist/producer Jagori Tanna. The result is a powerful
album which concentrates more on the darker and heavier aspect of the band's sound.
The Quicksilver Meat Dream was produced by Jagori Tanna and David Bottrill (Tool, Godsmack,
Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, Mudvayne, and dozens of Real World label projects), who also
mixed 1999's Blue Green Orange. The album was recorded at the band's Toronto studio, The
Mother's Hip, and mixed by Bottrill at the Warehouse in Vancouver.
I.M.E.'s first three albums (Dig, Scenery & Fish, Blue Green Orange) earned the quartet
multi-platinum status, several Junos and MuchMusic Video Awards. Years of touring with
their energetic live show and the comanding presence of frenetic frontman Brian Byrne,
have established them as one of the best live bands around.
I.M.E. continues to maintain a strong online presence. The award winning website, imenation.com,
has helped create a sense of community, where fans from all over the world can interact with
each other and the band members.
Being no stranger to the road, I.M.E. has already begun to add to the hundreds of shows
already performed. Last year the band crossed the country with the MTV Campus Invasion
tour after the inclusion of Juicy on the highly successful xXx soundtrack. In addition
to a major North American tour, the band will also be returning to Europe and Asia.
