The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir are back on the "Hammond and Horn Driven Revival Train" with the release of Simply the best of The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir 1985-1995 (distributed by Sony Music Canada). The train hits a station near you on November 14, 2000.

This powerhouse of 8 spawned from a high school jam session in 1985. In the band's ten-year history, six projects were recorded and they covered the country becoming "Canada's beloved groovesters". The seventeen tracks revisit those times to include such classics as Simple and Ignite.

Special jewels were also unearthed for the project - In A Salient Way with special guest, Ani DiFranco, as well as previously unreleased tracks.

Although members of The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir disbanded for other projects in 1995, members Chris Brown and Kate Fenner kept the spirit with a move to New York City and have recorded many projects since, touring with bands like The Barenaked Ladies and Ani DiFranco. Presently they are on the tour "Evening with the Tragically Hip" as members of the band.

Other members are still making music happen. Bourbon bassist, Jason Mercer is also presently on tour with Ani DiFranco's band. Andrew Whiteman, guitar and vocals, has released a CD of poetry and is now working with his new band, The Apostle of Hustle. David Wall, piano and lead vocals, writes music for film and television and performs with The Flying Bulgar Klezmer Band. Chris Miller, guitar, is working in postproduction and Gregor Bresesford, drums, is now playing with David Wilcox.

Fans will enjoy sinking their teeth into this project with its hits and unreleased tracks, and new listeners will be hooked on the groove of it all.
